Meet Nico Gallegos, prone surfer from Argentina and long time friend. We LOVE having him in Hawai’i every year for the Hawai’i Adaptive Surfing Championship as he brings great vibes and big smiles all the way from Argentina! He is the 2022 World Champion in the unassisted prone division and continues to surf and shred his way around the world!

Here is more from Nico:

Nicolas Gallegos 44 years old from the city of Miramar, Argentina. A little over 10 years ago surfing caught me and changed my life. I met Accessurf in 2015, in the first adapted ISA and I quickly connected with my friend Buster, even though I didn’t even know how to say hello in English. With that wonderful command of the language and with home adaptations to drive and carry my surfboard in my wheelchair, in 2016 I made my first solo trip to surf and compete, and yes, here Hawaii. 7 hours driving from my Argentinean beach house to the airport, 10 hour flight to Houston and another 9 hour flight to Honolulu. It was worth all the effort and much more to know this island and especially AccesSurf. Then I tried to be here almost every year until today and it will continue like this, people come to Hawaii for love and this is no exception. I have many incredible memories, but what I salvage the most is what I live with my community, I’ve been waiting all year to meet and this year is my second visit. Blessed and grateful to life to be here.
Thanks Accessurf for the love and making me feel so good every time I step on the island.
Meet Les!
