Day at the Beach is our flagship monthly program, held the first Saturday of each month at White Plains Beach Park – though on rare occasions there is a date change, so please always be sure to check our online calendar.
This free program is open to anyone with a physical or cognitive disability, both for local residents and visitors to our islands. Featuring assisted swimming and floating as well as surfing – our trained volunteers and specialized equipment are here to make sure you enjoy the happiness and freedom of a Day at the Beach, wether you’re going for a surf, enjoying a swim, or just hanging out on the beach soaking up the sun.
The program runs from 9am-1pm, and while no pre registration is required – it is very helpful if you complete your participant waiver online, which you only have to do once and can do so here.
You don’t need to be a surfer to help someone experience a great Day at the Beach! We have lots of volunteer opportunities both on land and in the water – from water safety to food preparation, assisted swimming to wheelchair transfers, and much more.
We hold a new volunteer orientation on site at 8:00am. All first time volunteers are required to attend the orientation. We encourage all first time volunteers to complete their waiver form online, which can be done here.
