You may recognize Meira from being the face of our recent Holiday Giving Campaign. Meira has been an AccesSurf participant for over three years, and in that time she has become one of our most dedicated athletes. She recently competed in the Adaptive Surfing World Championships as a member of the Hawaii Adaptive Surf Team and is training for the 2016 Paralympics. Here’s Meira’s experience in her own words:

From the moment I arrived on that first day, AccesSurf has helped to rebuild my confidence and made me feel like I belong. I go to AccesSurf to relax and connect with the ocean. It is my place of freedom. It made my relationship with my family healthier and happier. I am physically stronger and mentally prepared to accomplish anything I put my mind to. AccesSurf took me to where I never thought I could go and I am forever grateful and thankful. Words cannot express how I feel about this organization.”
