Aloha, my name is Michael Montayre I am a 41 year old stroke survivor. I have resided in Ewa Beach my entire life before my stroke in 2020. I enjoyed many different things taking long rides around the island on my motorcycle or moped. I love to fish and spend lots of time with my family and loved ones, but since then I have gained a new love for Painting beach days pool days riding tricycle and doing anything to help me in my healing journey .
I heard about AccesSurf through my friends at an adaptive adventure cycling event. My sister looked up AccesSurf on social media. This was in july 2024. She signed me up and I was able to join in on the day at the Beach event for that upcoming month!
AccesSurf is so special to me because when I am at an event, I am surrounded by such amazing patient and understanding people they take the time to help me enjoy things I used to do it was at my first day at the Beach event that I was able to go into the ocean in over four years I was so happy I talked about it for days. I am extremely grateful to everyone at AccesSurf and all they do.
My favorite memory of access surf would be a hard one for me to just choose one. I have so many every event I have left feeling so refreshed, relax, strong, confident, and positive and so happy from the first event of feeling the sand and the ocean in such a long time to the fourth one surfing for the first time in my life to the laughter and joy I feel at each pool event.
I am forever grateful for AccesSurf and all of the volunteers i am so excited for the next event next month thank you again for all that you all do!
Sincerely
Michael Montayre
