My name is Austin and I just turned 13. I was born in Utah, but as a military kid, our family moved to Colorado, Virginia and then back to Colorado. When my dad retired from the Air Force, we decided to move to Oahu in July 2024. I love interacting with people, school, music and animals. I also love being in the water, especially the pool and hot tub.

How did you first hear about AccesSurf? When did you start?

We heard about AccesSurf from a specialty doctor at Tripler Army Medical Center and attended our first Day at the Beach in the Fall of 2024, shortly after we moved to the island.

What does AccesSurf mean to you?

AccesSurf means belonging to a community that sees beyond our disabilities and offers opportunities to participate in activities that would normally not be accessible. The Aloha Spirt is alive and well within AccesSurf, its volunteers, and everyone involved with this amazing organization.

What is your favorite AccesSurf memory?

My favorite AccesSurf memory would probably be the first time I attended. To see firsthand what this amazing organization and all of the wonderful volunteers do for the community is absolutely awe-inspiring. I even stood up on my board that first time and my parents loved seeing me out in the ocean having so much fun.

Is there anything else you would like to sat or share with our AccesSurf ‘Ohana?

Our family is beyond grateful for AccesSurf and all of the volunteers that work tirelessly month after month to provide unforgettable experiences for our community. Mahalo nui loa and God Bless, AccesSurf!
