Please tell us a little about yourself with a simple intro: name, where you’re from, interests, what you like to do…Hi, my name is Patrick Boughton, and I’m 4 years old. I’ll be turning 5 in November! I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, at Tripler Army Medical Center. I was so excited to meet my family that I arrived 11 weeks early and spent 45 days being cuddled in the NICU before coming home. While I was in the NICU, doctors discovered I had periventricular leukomalacia, or PVL, which is connected to my cerebral palsy. My CP is part of what makes me special. It can make some things a little harder, but it has never stopped me from enjoying every moment and trying new things. This summer, I had a selective dorsal rhizotomy at Stanford and spent two months in the hospital healing. Now that I am home, I am learning new skills and pushing myself to try my best every day in physical and occupational therapy. The journey will be lifelong, but I am ready to ride any wave that comes my way. Some of my favorite things are surfing with my best buddy- Maddie, dancing, going to the beach, playing Paw Patrol and superheroes, making music on the piano and guitar, playing with my little brother- Henry, helping my family and friends, being a leader, and reading with my parents.

How did you first hear about AccesSurf? When did you start?I first learned about AccessSurf through my amazing PT Lori through Hawaii’s Early Intervention Program. My first time surfing was in October 2025 at Queen’s Beach and it’s one of my favorite memories!!
