Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Kevin Ancog. I’m born and raised in Hawaii, married with 2 adult children and a grandson on the way. I love surfing and paddling OC-1. I work as a police officer at HPD’s training academy.
How and when did you hear about or start with Accessurf?
I really enjoy volunteering, and I wanted to find something my family could do together to help others. I also love surfing, so when I found out about AccesSurf, I knew it was a go! My first time attending was Nov 7, 2015.
What does AccesSurf mean to you?
For me AccesSurf means sharing what I’ve been blessed with. I’m very grateful for living in Hawaii with it’s beautiful ocean and natural creation. I feel I have a very blessed life. Out of gratitude for this blessing I feel compelled to give to others in whatever ways I can.
What is your favorite AccesSurf memory?
As a pusher, I get to see close up the joy that people feel from surfing. I remember a little girl who’s blind (I forgot her name). She would sing while waiting for a wave to show up. I really appreciated her beautiful heart. She was confident, at peace with herself and in the moment. I always look forward to hearing her sing!
