About our Programs
Through our “Day at the Beach™” and “AccesSurf Instruction” programs, our organization is able to achieve its mission of providing beach access and therapeutic ocean activities in a safe and barrier free environment. We invite anyone with any type of cognitive or physical disability and their family members to discover their own level of abilities in the ocean environment.
Our participants range in ages from 3 to 83 and have included paraplegics, quadriplegics, amputees, cerebral palsy, blind, autism, multiple sclerosis, downs syndrome, and others.

day at the beach
AccesSurf’s “Day at the Beach”™ program is a free monthly service provided by professionally trained staff and volunteers that introduces adaptive aquatic recreation using specialized surfboards, wave skis, and flotation devices for anyone with a disability. All ages and abilities are welcome. This program allows family and friends to participate in outdoor recreation as an ‘ohana (family). Volunteers will meet at 8:00am with orientation at 8:30am.

- Interstate H1 West towards Waianae
- Take exit 2 toward Kapolei/Kalaeloa. (0.2 miles)
- Turn Left at stop light onto Makakilu Dr. (0.3 miles)
- Makakilo Dr becomes Fort Barrette Rd. (0.8 miles)
- Continue straight on Fort Barrette Road
- Enter through Barbers Point main gate
- Turn left onto Franklin D Roosevelt Rd. (1 miles)
- Follow the “ Blue ” beach cottage signs
- Turn right on Coral Sea (1.5 miles)
- Turn Left on Tripoli (.5 miles)
- Turn Right into White Plains Beach Circle
- Enter parking Lot, we will be on the Grassy area to the left of Beach Concession

AccesSurf Instruction
AccesSurf Instruction is designed to provide ocean access to empower its participants to their highest level of independence in the water. Designed and lead by certified therapeutic recreation therapists, medical professionals, professional surfers, and trained volunteers, these services provide safe activities and therapeutic instruction in surfing, standup paddling, snorkeling and swimming/flotation.
We invite anyone with a disability, whether physical or mental, and their family members to participate in these activities to discover their own level of abilities in the ocean.
