About our Programs
Through our “Day at the Beach™", Wounded Warrior's" and “AccesSurf Instruction” programs, our organization is able to achieve its mission of providing beach access and therapeutic ocean activities in a safe and barrier free environment. We invite anyone with any type of cognitive or physical disability and their family members to discover their own level of abilities in the ocean environment.

Our participants range in ages from 3 to 83 and have included paraplegics, quadriplegics, amputees, cerebral palsy, blind, autism, multiple sclerosis, downs syndrome, and others.

day at the beach
AccesSurf’s “Day at the Beach”™ program is a free monthly service provided by professionally trained staff and volunteers that introduces adaptive aquatic recreation using specialized surfboards, wave skis, and flotation devices for anyone with a disability. All ages and abilities are welcome. This program allows family and friends to participate in outdoor recreation as an ‘ohana (family). Volunteers will meet at 8:00am with orientation at 8:30am.
Please Note: Basic hydration and snacks are provided by sponsors for our participants and volunteers with AccesSurf. We ask that extra family members and care takers please plan ahead to bring their own snacks so we can continue to provide this free service for our participants and volunteer staff.

- Continue straight on Fort Barrette Road
- Enter through Barbers Point main gate
- Turn left onto Franklin D Roosevelt Rd. (1 miles)
- Follow the “ Blue ” beach cottage signs
- Turn right on Coral Sea (1.5 miles)

- Turn Right into White Plains Beach Circle
- Enter parking Lot, we will be on the Grassy area to the left of Beach Concession

Wounded Warrior's

AccesSurf’s Wounded Warrior program is a free monthly program providing adaptive aquatic recreation using specialized surfboards, Stand Up Paddle boards and flotation devices for any military personnel with a disability. We provide small group instruction by professionals in the fields of physical, occupational and recreational therapists along with certified surfing instructors and lifeguards for them to achieve the highest level of independence in the ocean. Our goal is to provide a therapeutic program that can empower our military personnel to connect with the ocean and learn healthy areas of recreation and leisure pursuits for their everyday lives. Therapeutic benefits such as improved self-esteem, decreased isolative behaviors, improved communication and interactive social skills, reduced behavioral problems, and increased community integration to mainstream recreation activities along with the positive effects of physical exercise and outdoor recreation have been made with our program.

AccesSurf Lessons
AccesSurf Instruction is designed to provide ocean access to empower its participants to their highest level of independence in the water. Designed and lead by certified therapeutic recreation therapists, medical professionals, professional surfers, and trained volunteers, these services provide safe activities and therapeutic instruction in surfing, standup paddling, snorkeling and swimming or flotation.

We invite anyone with a disability, whether physical or mental, and their family members to participate in these activities to discover their own level of abilities in the ocean.
